Love Is The Beginning, Middle, and End

Glory be to God, the last aching abyss of the human heart is filled to overflowing with the love of God. Love is the beginning, ove is the middle and love is the end. After He comes in, all you see is ‘Jesus only, Jesus ever.’ When you know what God has done for you, the power and the tyranny of sin is gone and the radiant, unspeakable emancipation of the indwelling Christ has come.

- Oswald Chambers

The Furious Longing of God

The gospel is absurd and the life of Jesus is meaningless unless we believe that He lived, died, and rose again but with one purpose in mind: to make brand-new creations. Not to make people with better morals, but to create a community of prophets and professional lovers, men and women who would surrender to the mystery of the fire of the Spirit that burns within, who would live in ever greater fidelity to the omnipresent Word of God, who would enter into the center of it all, the very heart and mystery of Christ, into the center of the flame that consumes, purifies, and sets everything aglow with peace, joy, boldness, and extravagant, furious love.

- Brennan Manning, The Furious Longing of God

May We Love Loudly!

Love is more powerful than death. And even those who have committed great violence can have the image of God come to life again within them as they hear the whisper of love. May the whisper of love grow louder than the thunder of violence. May we love loudly.

- Shane Claiborne

You Are Our Brothers!

Say to those that hate and curse you, You are our brothers!

- Theophilus of Antioch

Where There Is Love There Is Life

Love never claims, it ever gives; love never suffers, never resents, never revenges itself. Where there is love there is life; hatred leads to destruction.

- Mahatma Gandhi

Do Not Underestimate God’s Forgiving Grace

To miss God’s forgiving grace as it relates to sin is to miss the redemptive purpose of the Incarnation. Every other grace is a contributing grace to the act of Jesus dying on the cross. To miss that is to miss the Christian faith. The preacher that minimizes or ignores sin doesn’t understand the big truth of the gospel that we can have our sins forgiven–daily and eternally.

- John M. Perkins, Follow Me To Freedom

We Are All Better Than The Worst Things We Do

Sure it (the church) is a mess. People are a mess. But we are all better than the worst things we do. An just as we can see the evil that humans are capable of it in the worst sinners, we can also see the goodness we are capable of in the saints.

- Shane Claiborne, Follow Me To Freedom

Sin Destroys Us

God hates sin, not just because we are disobedient to the law, but because sin destroys us, and God can’t stand to watch us destroy ourselves.

- Shane Claiborne

Avoiding Error with Diversity

“Many preaching errors are due to reading only favorite preachers and ignoring the diverse preachers God raised up [over] 2000 years.”

- Rick Warren on Twitter

Never Force Theology

“The well-intentioned fad of finding the Cross in every verse is eisegesis. Even Jesus didn’t do that! Never force a theology.”

- Rick Warren on Twitter
